(ALBION) – An Albion business will be closing their doors this spring.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development was notified by Plant Manager Mike Zunk that Dana Light Axle Products LLC will be closing their Albion service parts and export packaging center. All employees will be permanently laid off. This will effect 43 Dana employees, along with 30 temporary workers.

Zunk says the decision to close the Albion plant was difficult, but ultimately necessary in order to maximize Dana's ability to be competitive within difficult market decision.

Employees do not have bumping rights, although some employees may receive offers to work at other Dana locations.

Initial layoffs of Dana employees will begin around April 30, 2021 and will continue through May 31 of 2021.

This announcement follows two plant closings that happened in Noble County in 2020. The Noble County Economic Development Corporation says Vibracoustic in Ligonier announced in December they would be closing down, and ending the employment of 90 people. LSC Communications in Kendallville closed their doors just before Christmas, leaving 300 people without a job.
