(BETHEL TOWNSHIP) – A weekend crash claimed the life of a Bronson man.

The Branch County Sheriff's Department says 83 year old Rod Hathaway was driving a 2020 Polaris Ranger northbound on Gilead Lake Road, just south of Schmidt Road in Bethel Township at 10 AM Sunday. Hathaway crossed the
center line, went off the road and struck a tree.

Deputies say that Hathaway was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Assisting deputies were the Bronson Fire Department, and Life Care Ambulance. The crash is still under investigation.
