Sturgis Modifies Graduation Requirements
Friday, January 22, 2021

Sturgis, MI - The Sturgis Public Schools Board of Education met virtually earlier this week to discuss several topics, including an update regarding the district’s COVID-19 plan.

Attention was also given to an adjustment to student graduation requirements at Sturgis. Because of COVID-19 and adjustments to the education plan, the board agreed to adjust the graduation requirements for current freshmen through seniors. To graduate, students must take an advisory course. Because there is no advisory interaction being offered currently, the board agreed to reduce the number of graduation credits from 24 to 23 for all high school students.

In other school news for the Sturgis school district, Superintendent Art Ebert said 82 percent of students are participating in the in-person plan, with 18 percent taking classes online and at home.
