(PORTER TOWNSHIP) – Authorities say a Union man is dead after being struck by a vehicle.

Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke says his department was called to an accident at the intersection of U.S. 12 and Union Road in Porter Township. 39 year old Anne Lowry of Constantine was driving west on U.S. 12 at 7:05 Thursday morning when she collided with 68 year old Edward Nienow, who was walking across the street. Nienow was pronounced dead at the scene.

Lowry was wearing her safety belt.

The SEPSA Fire and Ambulance assisted deputies. The incident is still under investigation.
