MONGO – Fire and police from Lagrange County and the surrounding area sent a message Sunday to one of their own...and that message was “you are not alone.”

The emergency units formed a parade to salute Kristin Ritchie and her husband Chuck. Kristin is battling breast cancer. She and Chuck served the Mongo Fire Department for several years.

So Mongo Fire Chief Josh Watts and the department organized Sunday’s Signal Ten For Heroes salute and found eager support from area departments.

Mongo is accepting donations to the family on the Shields Under Fire website.
