BRUSHY PRAIRIE - Family, friends, and the community are mourning the loss of Prairie Heights Middle School 7th grader Conlei Walworth.

According to her Facebook page, Courage for Conlei, she passed away Wednesday morning.

The 13 year-old was the daughter of Chris and Jill Walworth. She was diagnosed with cancer last spring.

Conlei was the recipient of numerous community fundraisers over the last year. She was the 2019 Steuben County Volley-4-a-Cure honorary player, and had a t-shirt themed with a sea turtle because of her love of the animal. The 7th & 8th grade boys basketball teams at Prairie Heights wore socks honoring Conlei.

She was an honor student and involved in many activities, including volleyball, basketball, golf, and softball.

In the facebook post that announced her passing, her family remarked the best way people could honor Conlei’s memory was to do something kind in her name and “live life like Conlei”.
