Monday, January 13, 2020

GOSHEN – A Goshen man allegedly driving while intoxicated brought down two utility poles damaging three vehicles and a home early Sunday morning.

The home happened to belong to an off-duty sheriff’s deputy and one of the vehicles damaged was his squad car.

The off-duty officer approached the suspect, who resisted and fought with him. On duty officers arrived and attempted to take 23-year-old Cesar Ortega-Olvera into custody but he fled on foot. Officers gave chase and eventually took him into custody.

They say he had a blood alcohol content of point 207%.

Ortega-Olvera faces preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of a crash, and operating without ever receiving a license and without insurance.

The home sustained damage to the driveway, garage door and walls. Vehicles damaged included a 2018 Ram pickup, a 2012 Kia Serento, and the 2017 Dodge Charger police cruiser.
