Lagrange Town Board to seek bids on splash pad, park improvements
By: Tim Murray - Tuesday, January 7, 2020

LAGRANGE – A proposed splash pad, handicap access and playground equipment for young children at Lagrange Town Park could cost around $315-thousand dollars.

That was the report the committee gave to the town board Monday evening. They were hoping to have the board award the contract so equipment can be ordered, but Town Attorney Bill Eberhard pumped the brakes – saying Indiana’s public purchase statute requires sealed bids for expenditures greater than $150-thousand. Eberhard said he felt they could still keep the project on track and on schedule.

Clerk-Treasurer Laurie Miller said possible funding sources include a grant, a crowd funding matching grant, funds already on hand and a possible loan from the town’s rainy day fund.

The board discussed possibly closing a portion of Mountain Street in the park for safety’s sake.
