PORTER TOWNSHIP – An Elkhart man is dead following a one vehicle crash.
The Cass County Sheriff's Department says 28 year old Chase Miller was driving north on Bellows Road near Idlewild Street in Porter Township at 3:47 PM Friday when his vehicle left the road and went into a pond.
First Responders arrived and pulled Miller from the pond and started doing CPR, but after 30 minutes they were unable to revive him. Miller was pronounced dead at the scene.
It's believed he was not wearing his seat belt, and it's still not known if any intoxicating substances were involved. The case remains under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were the Porter Township Fire Department, the Cass County Marine Division and the SMCAS Ambulance Service.
