Suspect arraigned in stabbing incident

PARK TOWNSHIP – A man arrested in connection with a stabbing incident has been arraigned.

St. Joseph County District Court personnel say that 23 year old Akinyele Lashandupree Bell Jr., faces charges of Assault With Intent To Commit Bodily Harm and Assault With A Dangerous Weapon. He is also being held on some existing warrants.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department was sent to the 53,000 block of North Fisher Lake Road at 7:30 Tuesday night to investigate a reported assault between family members. When they arrived deputies learned the victim, a 21 year old woman, sustained a knife wound to the neck that was determined to be non life threatening. Bell fled the scene on foot.

K-9 Officer Django, his handler and another officer from the Three Rivers Police Department were called to help deputies search for Bell. They tracked him to a nearby property. Bell attempted to flee, but was apprehended.

Bell is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail with bond set at $5,000. A preliminary hearing is set for November 12.
