PARK TOWNSHIP – An incident in Park Township led to the arrest of a man on two charges.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Brad Balk says his deputies were sent to the 53,000 block of North Fisher Lake Road at 7:30 PM Tuesday for a reported assault between family members. When they arrived deputies learned the victim, a 21 year old woman, sustained a knife wound to the neck that was determined to be non life threatening. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

K-9 Officer Django, his handler and another officer from the Three Rivers Police Department were called to help deputies search for the suspect. Django was able to pick up the suspect's scent and lead officers to a nearby property. As the officers closed in, the suspect attempted to flee, but was apprehended.

The 23 year old man was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail where he was charged with assault with intent to commit murder and interfering with 911.
