Campos brings message back about the Border Wall
By: Tim Murray - Friday, October 11, 2019

LAGRANGE – As an executive board member of the Indiana Sheriff’s Association, LaGrange County Sheriff Jeff Campos got a first hand look at the Arizona-Mexico border last month.

Campos attended the Southwest Border Sheriff’s Fall Conference. The trip focused on training topics and understanding the border situation.

He said one of the big topics was The Wall.

"Our first day down there was a roundtable with the border sheriffs and the border patrol. They talked about what they're seeing, the problems they have. One of the main things they wanted us to convey when we got back here in Indiana is to let people know it's not Trump who wants the wall. They want the wall. He's just asking for them."

"[The wall] is a deterrent. Where we were at it is an 18-foot wall. And what they want to put up is a 30-foot wall. They know it's not going to stop anything, but it's going to slow them down. And that's what they want to do," Campos said.

Campos and five other Indiana sheriffs took a 10 hour inspection of 40 miles of border. What he saw in our next segment on Monday.
