Food For Fines

2017-11-13

The LaGrange County Public Library is making it possible for folks to donate food and have their fines forgiven.

Food for Fines runs Monday, November 13 through Saturday, November 25 at all LaGrange County Public Library branches. For each non-perishable food item donated, the library will forgive $1 in fines, up to $20.

Suggested donations include canned soups and crackers, canned meats and tuna, peanut butter, and canned fruits and vegetables. All items will be donated to the Clothes and Food Basket of LaGrange County, Inc.

The library will not accept any food items past their expiration date, items in glass containers, items separate from multi-packs, sample sized items or single serve items.

This program applies only at the LaGrange County Public Library and its branches and will only reduce fines owed to the LaGrange County Public Library. Donations for the Food for Fines program cannot be applied toward charges for lost or damaged items.
