Flood Warninng 2/20/18 Lagrange IN-Cass MI-St. Joseph MI-Berrien MI- 319 AM EST TUE FEB 20 2018 The National Weather Service in Northern Indiana has issued a * Flood Warning for Small Streams for... Rain and Snowmelt in... Lagrange County in northeastern Indiana... Cass County in southwestern Michigan... St. Joseph County in southwestern Michigan... Berrien County in southwestern Michigan... * Until 315 AM EST Wednesday * At 310 AM EST, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated that heavy rain was falling over the area. The heavy rain will cause flooding. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area through early Wednesday. Many streams, creeks and small rivers will likely exceed bankfull and lead to flooding, including the Dowagiac River and Pigeon River. Many low lying areas will see high water and flooding as well. Roads may have water flowing across them. Larger, main stem rivers are also expected to have flooding. Consult river warnings and statements for more information on expected crests. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. All interested parties should take necessary precautions immediately.
