(UNDATED) - The Northern Indiana Better Business Bureau says there are some gift card scams happening during this Holiday season.
According to BBB Officials, the scammers are targeting gift cards as a way to get people's money.
One of the incidents is when a scammer will reveal the code off a gift card, wait for somebody to purchase it, then use the money before the recipient can.
Another has a scammer putting their own bar code on the card, so any money added goes to their account instead of the recipient's card.
Northern Indiana Better Business Bureau Marketing Manager Megan White says citizens should inspect the packaging carefully before purchasing a gift card. She says look for any torn wrapping, any odd wrinkles, or any exposed pins.
