(STURGIS) - The Sturgis City Commission heard about issues citizens have had with the homeless population during their meeting Wednesday.
Business owner Roger Krontz says that he has a business on St. Joseph Street. He has found shopping carts filled with garbage along with siding and other items. Krontz says the items are actually on railroad property, but it looks like it's on his property.
Alvie Wall spoke to the Commission in November about problems he has been having with break ins and damage done to his business in the former Kirsch Building. He was back Wednesday with an update. Wall says he filed a police report as the Commission suggested but he had another break in at his storage building. He says the lock was busted and a salamander was taken which is valued at $200.
Later in the meeting, the Commission discussed the possibility of having a work session and inviting other individuals and organizations into see what can be done to help out with the homeless population.
