(CONSTANTINE) - Constantine's water main issue has been fixed.
Kassandra Hochstetler, Constantine Administrative Assistant, says the water main repair a 1020 South Washington Street was completed Monday afternoon and water service has been restored throughout the Village.
During the repair, crews also encountered a gas line rupture at the site. Emergency services responded, the gas leak was secured, and SEMCO completed the necessary gas line repair before work on the water main resumed.
Hochstetler says although water service has been restored, a Boil Water Order remains in effect for the Village of Constantine until further notice.
The first round of water samples is currently being completed at locations throughout the Village as part of the required water quality testing. A second round of samples must be collected 24 hours later. If all required samples return clear results, the earliest the boil water order could be lifted would be later Wednesday afternoon.
Remember to bring all water to a boil, let it boil for at least one minute, and let it cool before using. You can also use bottled water.
Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes, and preparing food. Continue using boiled or bottled water until further notice.
