(LAGRANGE COUNTY) - For decades, the murder of a woman has haunted the people of LaGrange County and law enforcement officials.
Now, the Indiana State Police Cold Case investigators are asking for the public's help.
On February 4, 1988 Evelyn Matchett was murdered in her home on Pretty Lake. She was 67 and a widow living by herself. Despite an exhaustive investigation by the LaGrange County Sheriff's Office and the Indiana State Police, her killer has never been identified.
Hundreds of hours of investigative work have been poured into this case. Every lead has been chased and every clue has been examined. However, the answer remains hidden.
The Indiana State Police Cold Case Team believes that someone knows the truth. They may remember a conversation or heard something that didn't feel important at the time. The Cold Case Team is asking that you bring any information in this case to light, no matter how small it may seem.
