(LAGRANGE) - LaGrange County Commissioners are looking to issue a moratorium regarding data centers.

During their recent meeting, the Commissioners heard from County Attorney Kurt Bachman on approving the moratorium and explains why it would be something to consider.

LaGrange County Attorney Kurt Bachman says data centers are a big issue and it will take quite a bit of time and effort for his office and the Commission to get to a point where they understand it in a way that it can be properly regulated. Bachman says the law has given an opportunity for communities to impose a moratorium for these types of facilities for up to a year. (LISTEN ABOVE).

The recommendation for the moratorium came from the LaGrange County Plan Commission.

The County Commission voted unanimously to move forward with the moratorium.

Bachman says the plan is to have the resolution ready for the Commissioners during their July 20 meeting.
