Sturgis girls track team 2nd at Charlie Janke Invitational
(JACKSON) - For the second straight year, the Sturgis girls track team finished second at the Charlie Janke Invitational in Jackson. The event is an Early Qualifying event for the State Meet. Angela Cary won the high jump and qualified for the State Finals. Madelyn Oswald won the pole vault while Berkley Holtz won the 1600 meters in a lifetime best time. The 1600 meter relay team of Kinder Smith, Berkley Hotlz, Olivia Green and Sydney Bir took first place, as did the 3200 meter relay team of Smith, Bir, Tessa Hatt and Holtz. The 400 meter relay team and the 800 meter relay team both finished second.
Sturgis boys fifth at Charlie Janke Track Invitational
(JACKSON) - The Sturgis boys track team was in action at the Charlie Janke Invitational in Jackson and finished fifth on the day. Caleb Hohn won the 200 meters. Wyatt Miller was second in the pole vault. Benjamin Morales came in third in the 800 meters, while Darren Speelman came in fifth in both the 110 meter hurdles and the 300 meter hurdles. The Sturgis 400 meter relay team of Drake Fisher, Beckett Lamb, Jason Stutzman and Lukis Bir finished third. Fisher, Lamb, Stutzman and Hohn were third in the 800 meters. Gavin Lewis came in third in the shot put and fourth in the discus.
