(STURGIS) - The Sturgis Board of Education received some information on the proposed State budget.

During Monday's work session, Sturgis Finance Director Ray Sterling shared that Governor Gretchen Whitmer has submitted her proposed budget. He says that it did have a change compared to previous budgets.

Sterling says the biggest change in the Governor's proposed budget, but isn't sure it's going to happen, is Section 31A what is considered At Risk, and Section 41. They will not be categorical any more but instead will be part of the Foundation Allowance, and a separate Foundation Allowance.

In addition Sterling says the Governor's proposed budget calls for a $250 increase in the per pupil allowance. If it is approved, Sterling says that would bring the total per pupil allowance to $10,300.

The proposed budget has been given to the Michigan House and the Michigan Senate to be discussed.
