Sturgis girls track team goes 2-0 at Edwardsburg Tri-Meet
(EDWARDSBURG) - The Sturgis girls track team went 2-0 at the Edwardsburg Tri-Meet, beating host Edwardsburg 95-42 and Niles 116-21. Freshman Madelyn Oswald was first in the 100 meters and the pole vault and was part of the winning 400 meter relay with Addison Eicher, Kinder Smith and Angela Cary. Cary also was first in the high jump with a lifetime best jump along with being second in the long jump and the 200 meters. Smith was also a member of the winning 800 meter, 1600 meter and 3200 meter relays. Sydney Bir took first place in the 400 meters along with being part of the winning 800 meter relay and the 1600 meter relay. Charlotte Munzin was first in the shot put while Juliet Mendoza won the 100 meter hurdles. Tessa Hatt won the 800 meters and was also part of the winning 3200 meter relay, while Berkley Holtz won the 1600 meters and was on the winning 1600 meter relay.
Sturgis boys track team splits at Edwardsburg Tri-Meet
(EDWARDSBURG) - The Sturgis boys track team went 1-1 at the Edwardsburg Tri-Meet. The Trojans beat Niles 78-58 and lost to the host Eddies 76-60. Caleb Hohn took first place in the 200 meters, the 400 meters and was part of the winning 800 meter relay team. Hohn set a top 5 State time in the 200 meters of 22.76 seconds. Wyatt Miller won the Pole Vault and the 110 meter hurdles while Darren Speelman won the 300 meter hurdles. Gavin Lewis won the discus against both opponents.
