Eicher, Cary named SHS Athletes Of The Year

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis High School senior student-athletes were honored Thursday at the 101sta annual Sturgis Exchange Club All Sports Banquet, held at the Sturges-Young Center For The Arts. It was an opportunity for the Senior Class to be recognized for their four years of athletic endeavors. Selected as the Female Athlete Of The Year was Riley Eicher, who lettered four years in track and three in basketball. She was introduced by her track coach Lesley Starkey. Swick Broadcasting spoke with Eicher who says she was overwhelmed to receive this honor. LILNKC. The Male Athlete Of the Year was Gibson Cary, who lettered four years in baseball, three years in football and two years in basketball. Cary says he would have achieved the goals he has without the support of his family and coaches. ...... {LISTEN}. The audience heard from guest speaker Matt Moses, who graduated from Sturgis High School in 2000, and was a member of the 1999 State Championship Baseball Team.
