Western Michigan falls to Iowa 109-61

(IOWA CITY) - A total of nine different Broncos got in the scoring column Monday night, but the Western Michigan men's basketball team fell to Iowa, 109-61, in a non-conference game at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. Lamar Norman Jr. led the Broncos (1-3) in scoring with 19 points. Mack Smith had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and a block. Titus Wright added 7 points, 7 boards, a block and a steal. Keegan Murray paced Iowa (5-0) with 29 points. Western was down by two with 15:28 to go in the opening half, but the Hawkeyes caught fire and closed the half on a 41-14 run. The Broncos poured in 41 points in the second half, but could not keep pace with hot-shooting Iowa. WMU won the rebounding battle 38-37, and had a season-best 13 offensive boards. Up next, the Broncos travel to Fort Myers, Fla. For the Hilton Garden Inn Florida Gulf Coast University Invitational. WMU will take on host FGCU on Friday at 7 PM before squaring off with Purdue Fort Way on Saturday at 4:30 PM, and Southeastern Louisiana on Sunday at 1:30 PM.
