(CENTREVILLE) – A Sturgis woman has entered into a plea agreement regarding the death of her two year old daughter.

St. Joseph County Prosecutor Deborah J. Davis says 21 year old Paige Bohne agreed to plead no contest to charges of first degree child abuse and assault with intent to do bodily harm. She also plead not guilty to charges of murder and conspiracy to commit child abuse, but because of the plea agreement, those two charges were dropped.

Davis says the plea agreement is contingent on Bohne providing truthful testimony about another individual involved in this matter.

On November 7, 2024 at 12:47 PM, the St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Office and medical first responders were sent to the Memory Lane Trailer Park on West U.S. 12 for an unresponsive two year old inside a residence. Attempts to revive the child were unsuccessful, and the child was pronounced dead.

The St. Joseph County Major Crimes Task Force was activated and as the investigation progressed, Bohne was taken into custody on a charge of involuntary manslaughter, which was later amended to open murder.

Davis says that Bohne is scheduled to be sentenced at 1:45 PM on August 29. However that could change as she has not yet complied with all of the terms of the plea agreement. If Bohne fails to comply with all the conditions of the agreement, then the plea will be withdrawn and a trial will proceed.
