Abbs Has Questions About Sturgis Budget

(STURGIS) – Some questions were raised about the City of Sturgis’ budget for fiscal year 2025-2026.

During last week’s meeting the City Commission was presented with the budget. It’s projected that the General Fund will have revenues and transfers of $11,744,025 in the next Fiscal Year. Expenditures and transfers are projected to be at $12,307,561, which is a decrease in net position of $563,536.

Overall revenues and transfers for the budget is projected at $65,124,099 and overall expenditures and transfers is projected to be $64,499,715. With $1,662,280 transferred into the overall budget, the change in net position will be a positive of $2,286,664.

Sturgis City Manager Andrew Kuk says overall the City is expected to show a profit for 2025-2026. ...... {LISTEN}.

Kuk says the City can always do better in terms of cost cutting and providing services, and they are always open to looking at things. However, he says there are always trade offs when that happens.

The City Commission approved the budget for Fiscal Year 2025-2026 by a vote of 6-2.
