(CASSOPOLIS) - Cass County Administrator Patrick Jordan was placed on administrative leave as the County’s legal counsel investigates claims made against him.
The decision to place Jordan on leave was made during a special meeting of the County Commission Friday morning.
In an official statement made by County Commission Board Chair Jeremiah Jones, he said the county has received complaints about Jordan using derogatory language in the workplace. If it’s true, Jones says it may violate the County’s written policies.
It’s alleged that Jordan made inappropriate jokes about Muslims and gay people on the job in the County Office Building.
Jones says Cass County takes these allegations very seriously. Pending the results of the investigation, Jones says the Commission will act swiftly, with fairness and with justice with all parties involved.
Cass County Finance Director Jennifer Rentfrow has been appointed Interim Administrator, and will fulfill the statutory duties of the County Administrator until further Board action.
