(CENTREVILLE) – Glen Oaks Community College President Dr. Bryan Newton has received high marks during his first year review.
The Glen Oaks Board of Trustees conducted the review, assessing Newton’s performance in seven key categories: fiscal management, external relations, internal relations, leadership, institutional performance, personal qualities, and relations with the Board. Trustees evaluated Newton’s progress toward goals established at the start of his presidency and his ability to advance the mission and the vision of the College.
The Board awarded Newton an overall rating of “outstanding” for his leadership and contributions during his first year in office.
Board of Trustees Chairman Bruce Gosling says Newton has quickly established himself as an engaged, visible, and collaborative leader. He says since day one, Newton has worked to build strong relationships with faculty, staff, students, and community partners. Gosling says Newton’s commitment to student success, fiscal responsibility, and innovative program development has positioned the college well for the future.
Since beginning his presidency on July 22, 2024, Dr. Newton has advanced several strategic initiatives, including expanding workforce training partnerships, strengthening enrollment outreach, and guiding the college through its Higher Learning Commission accreditation review. His efforts have also supported progress on the multi-phase campus renovation project, aligning facility upgrades with evolving student and program needs.
Newton says he’s grateful for the support of the Board of Trustees, his leadership team, and the entire Glen Oaks community. He says the first year has been about listening, learning, and working together to build on the college’s strong foundation. Newton says he looks forward to continuing that work in the years ahead.
