(CENTREVILLE) – Several races for positions in St. Joseph County were settled during Tuesday’s General Election.

For St. Joseph County Sheriff, Chad Spence was the lone candidate on the ballot, and received 23,262 votes, and will be the next Sheriff. Gordon Evilsizor ran as a Write-In candidate and collected 528 votes.

There was a race for St. Joseph County Probate Court Judge. Kevin Kane defeated Kelly Ward 12,157 (55.6%) to 10,503 (46.35%). Kane will take over for David Tomlinson as Probate Court Judge, as Tomlinson can’t seek re-election to due age requirements.

Running unopposed and winning re-election were Robert Pattison as 3B District Court Judge (18,549) and Paul Stutesman as Circuit Court Judge (18,795).

Running unopposed was Debra Davis, who was elected to be the new St. Joseph County Prosecutor (22,610).

Also running unopposed was incumbent County Treasurer Kathy Humphreys (22,398), County Clerk and Register of Deeds Gina Everson (22,406), and incumbent Drain Commissioner Jeff Wenzel (22,305).

Everson was appointed to the Clerk and Register of Deeds position earlier this year.
