(STURGIS) – Fire destroyed a shed and damaged other buildings on the north side of Sturgis.

The Sturgis Department of Public Safety Fire Division was called to the 500 block of North Lakeview Avenue at 10:45 AM on October 3 for a reported structure fire. When they arrived, firefighters found a shed in the back yard on fire, and dangerously close to spreading to a garage and home.

Captain Jacob Toth says the fire was quickly contained and extinguished before it could spread.

The shed and its contents are considered a total loss. The home and detached garage sustained minor damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
