(THREE RIVERS) - Another social media threat prompted Three Rivers Community Schools to close down Friday for a second straight day.

In a posting on the Three Rivers Community Schools website, Superintendent Nikki Nash says they were notified Thursday night of another post on social media with threats made against Three Rivers Schools. As an investigation was launched by the Three Rivers Police Department, the decision was made to close school for Friday and also cancel all home after school activities.

In addition, Nash shared that the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center (MIOC) has reported a significant increase in threats across the state, including in Three Rivers.

Nash says they have completed a thorough independent investigation and threat assessment. At this time, there is no immediate or credible threat and they continue to take proactive measures to ensure safety should any situation arise.

Three Rivers Community Schools is committed to safety and continues implementing security measures, including secured buildings, student well-being programs, and online monitoring platforms.

Nash says they understand everyone's concern and desire for details; however, due to student confidentiality laws, additional details cannot be released. Nash says Three Rivers Community Schools asks that you refrain from posting information on social media as it can increase anxiety and fear within the community and complicate investigations.

If you have any information or concerns, please report them directly to the school administration, local law enforcement, or OK2SAY.
