Longtime Steuben County Judge Allen Wheat Dies

(ANGOLA) – A long time member of the Steuben County Judicial System has passed away.

Steuben County Circuit Court Judge Allen Wheat passed away August 10 at the Indiana Health University Hospital in Indianapolis. He was just 74.

After graduating from George Washington High School in Indianapolis in 1967, Wheat attended and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree from the Indiana University Kelley School of Business. He then attended and graduated from the Indiana University School of Law, with a Doctor of Jurisprudence Degree.

Wheat also served in the United States Army from 1971 to 1973.

For 19 years, Wheat worked in private law practice. He served briefly as a Steuben County Deputy Prosecuting Attorney before coming Steuben County Circuit Court Judge in 1995, serving in that position until his death.
