Sturgis City Commission Approves Fiscal Year 2024-2025 Budget

(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis has a budget for fiscal year 2024-2025.

By a 5-1 vote, the Sturgis City Commission approved the budget during their meeting Wednesday, with Vice Mayor Aaron Miller casting the lone No vote.

The proposed tax rate was originally 11.6689 mills, which is the maximum amount the City could approve without a vote of the citizens. However, following a public hearing during their July 26 meeting, the Commission voted down the 11.6689 millage rate and instead approved the 11.0800 rate.

After going over some of the highlights of the budget, Kuk shared that the total revenues for the 2024-2025 budget is just over $57.8 million and total expenditures are just over $58.6 million.
