Carra To Face Schultes For State House Seat

(UNDATED) – The candidates have been chosen to run for the 36th District seat in the Michigan House Of Representatives.

During Tuesday’s Primary Election, Republican voters chose incumbent State Representative Steve Carra to run for a third, two year term. In St. Joseph County Carra received 6.757 votes or 65.6% of those cast. In Cass County, he received 2,341 votes or 77.6% to win the Republican nomination.

Frank Perez received 2,324 votes or 22.5% of those cast in St. Joseph County, and 394 or 13.07% cast in Cass County. Michael Malmborg collected 1,180 votes in St. Joseph County or 11.46%, while in Cass County he received 272 or 9.02% of the votes cast.

Carra will face Democratic candidate Erin Schultes, who was the lone Democratic candidate in the Primary. In St. Joseph County, Schultes received 1,383 votes of 99.6%. In Cass County, she got 1,146 votes or 99.8%.

Carra and Schultes will square off in the November General Election.
