(COLON) – An incident Tuesday sent some raw sewage into a St. Joseph County body of water.

Colon Village officials say there was a power outage, causing the lift station on Catherine Street and North Swan Street to go down. That in turn caused the sewer to back up to the first manhole, and 100 gallons of raw sewage overflowed into Swan Creek.

Village officials say crews are working to clean up this situation, and are asking residents to stay out of Swan Creek until further notice.
