(STURGIS) – The new video scoreboard project at Sturgis Public Schools is a go.
During a special meeting Thursday of the Sturgis Board of Education, Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert shared that the funding threshold of raising $37,500 has been met and the project is now moving forward. Ebert says while the School District is paying the upfront cost for the video boards, the revenue from sponsorship will more than pay for the project over ten years.
Ebert goes over the board that will be placed at the south end of the football field. ...... {LISTEN}.
In addition, there would be a new scoreboard on the south wall of the High School, and a message board on the west wall of the High School, near the south end of the building, that will be seen by people pulling into the parking lot.
Ebert says Sturgis Public Schools would like to thank their Video Scoreboard Sponsors: Sturgis Area Community Foundation, Sturgis Bank, Abbott, Gest Pro Tree Service, Glen Oaks Community College, Hype Brand Management, Jansen Plumbing Heating & Cooling, Pivotal, Sportsarama, Stevens Brothers Barber Co., and The Idriss Company Landscaping for your support. These 11 sponsors have committed a total of $41,000 per year towards the project, which the Ebert says the Schools are humbled by.
Ebert says there are additional sponsors that they will be announcing soon, and they will continue to seek sponsors for this project. He says with this fundraising mark met, Daktronics says the scoreboard will be up and ready to go for the start of the 2024 football season.
