(COLDWATER) – A Branch County home was damaged in a fire over the weekend.

Coldwater Fire Marshall Steve Trall says the Coldwater Fire Department was called out to a fire just before 3 PM Sunday at a house located at 104 East Barnhart Road. The Quincy Fire Department and the Union City Fire Department were both sent out to provide mutual aid.

Trall says when firefighters arrived they noticed fire and heavy smoke coming from a first floor bedroom, which was next to the basement stairs. The fire was put out in approximately 10 minutes and contained to the bedroom.

The home, which is owned by Darryl Bontrager, was occupied when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

Trall says following an investigation, the fire appeared to be electrical in its origin. Damage estimates are $20,000 to the house and structure and $5,000 to the contents of the home.
