(COLDWATER) – A man involved in a police pursuit Friday in Coldwater has been arraigned.

Branch County District Court officials say 50 year old Scott Calloway of Bronson was officially charged with second degree fleeing from police; assaulting/resisting and obstructing a police officer; receiving and concealing a stolen motor vehicle and possession of meth.

Calloway was driving a 2016 Toyota Tacoma that was reported stolen Friday from Clinton County, and spotted in Coldwater courtesy of the City’s new Automated License Plate Reader System. A Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy tried to stop the vehicle at Chicago Road and Michigan Avenue, but Calloway drove away with speeds getting over 100 MPH. The chase ended in a field near Garfield and Nash Roads.

The Deputy says objects were thrown out of the window of the suspect vehicle.

Calloway tried to run away, but was apprehended by the deputy, who said while searching the vehicle, found what appeared to be meth inside of a flashlight

During the arraignment, Calloway’s attorney entered a plea of not guilty. Bond was set at $125,000. Calloway is due to have a probable cause hearing on February 8 and a preliminary examination on February 14.
