(COLDWATER) – One of the two individuals arrested last Friday following a pursuit in Coldwater has been arraigned.

Branch County District Court officials say 30 year old Stephanie Thyng of Bronson is charged with assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer.

Thyng was a passenger in a vehicle that was reportedly stolen out of Clinton County, Michigan. It was spotted in Coldwater just before 2 PM Friday at the intersection of Chicago Road and Michigan Avenue, thanks to the City’s new Automated License Plate Reader.

An alert was sent out and a Branch County Sheriff’s Deputy spotted the car and tried to pull it over, but the driver, a 40 year old Indiana man, drove away from the officer, with speeds going over 100 MPH. The chase ended with the vehicle coming to a stop in a field near Garfield and Nash Roads.

Deputies say that Thyng ran away from the scene and was located and arrested in a nearby woods. She is being held on a $5,000 bond. Thyng is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing February 8 and a preliminary examination on February 13.
