(LANSING) – A St. Joseph County man is $500,000 richer after playing a new Michigan Lottery game.

Lottery officials say the 77 year old man won the money playing the $500,000 Winter Ice instant game. The lucky winner, who chose to remain anonymous, bought his winning ticket at Jit Food and Gas, 130 North Washington Street in Constantine.

The winner says he and his son stopped at the gas station and each of them bought a $5 ticket. After discovering he won $10, he went back in and bought two more tickets. The man bought the Winter Ice ticket for himself and a Wild Time ticket for his son.

This time the man found he had won $500,000.

The lucky winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim his prize. He says he plans to buy a new house with his winnings.
