(COLON) – Two St. Joseph County residents were arrested in connection with a theft in Branch County.

Michigan State Police from the Marshall Post have been investigating a recent theft that led them to getting a search warrant for a residence in the 700 block of East State Street in Colon. Officers executed it early Friday morning and several people were contacted.

Troopers located evidence in the form of firearms, narcotics and other related items. Two people were arrested, a 43 year old Colon man and a 44 year old Mendon woman. They were lodged in the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple felonies.

Assisting troopers at the scene were the Michigan State Police Emergency Support Team and the Southwest Enforcement Team.

The investigation is continuing.
