(BRONSON) – A member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department has announced that he would like to be the next Sheriff.

Deputy Michael Thyng made a Facebook announcement Monday that he is running for Branch County Sheriff in 2024.

Thyng retired in February 2020 after serving for 30 years as a Michigan State Police trooper. His retirement lasted just short of one year, when he took a position as a Deputy with the Branch County Sheriff’s Department in January 2021.
