(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Area Community Foundation won’t have to search for a new Executive Director.

In a media release, the Foundation Board announced that Lindsay Richardson will continue in the role of Executive Director. In October, Richardson announced that she planned to resign on December 31 to be closer to her home in Indiana.

Community Foundation Board Chairperson Erin Melchi-Baker says after a lot of reflection and discussion with staff and trustees, the Board is thrilled that Lindsay will be staying on as Executive Director. Baker says the Board is convinced that with Lindsay’s continued leadership, the Foundation will see further growth and success in meeting the needs of the community.

In the release, Richardson says Sturgis is her hometown and in many ways the community has shaped who she is. Richardson says after deep contemplation, she’s convinced her work in Sturgis is not done. She says she’s tremendously grateful for the opportunity to continue working along the staff, Board, donors and nonprofit partners.

Richardson joined the Sturgis Area Community Foundation as a trustee in 2017 and was hired as Executive Director in January 2019. Throughout her tenure, the Community Foundation has expanded its grant-making programs, won grant awards from the Michigan Health Endowment Fund, and was renewed as a nationally certified community foundation.
