Sturgis DPS Has Person Of Interest In Homicide Investigation

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis Department of Public Safety has identified a person of interest in the Thursday shooting death.

Deputy Director of Public Safety Damon Knapp says they are searching for the s person to question them regarding the death of Jeremy Lampaert, who was found in the parking lot of the Country Hearth Inn and Suites. Officers were called to the location at 6:05 PM to investigate a reported shooting. Lampaert was suffering from a gunshot wound, and was taken to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, where he died a short time later.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department and the Michigan State Police assisted at the scene.
