Quincy Man Pleads No Contest In Two Incidents

(COLDWATER) – No contest pleas have been entered by a Quincy man in two separate incidents.

According to Branch County Circuit Court officials 33 year old Matthew Jackson plead no contest to charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and domestic violence regarding an incident that happened on September 17.

In regards to a situation that happened on October 1 in Quincy at an apartment on Glenn Avenue, Jackson plead no contest to assaulting a police officer. The Branch County Prosecutor’s Office dismissed the other charges brought against Jackson in this incident, along with charges in a third case.

The Branch County Sheriff’s Office says deputies were sent to the apartment after receiving a call. The victim told deputies that Jackson threw a phone at her, and also choked, beat and head butted her.

Circuit Court officials say Jackson’s $400,000 bond was revoked and he is being held in the Branch County Jail. Court officials say that attorney’s have agreed to a prison term for Jackson of between 10 and 30 years. He will be sentenced on January 30.
