(THREE RIVERS) – The Three Rivers Commercial News is going to be back in business.

In a posting on their website, the Commercial News announced that they have been purchased and will restart publication on December 16. Editor and Publisher Dick Milliman had announced on December 7 that the paper would publish their last issue on December 10. The paper had been published in Three Rivers since the late 19th Century.

Milliman says that the decision whether to continue or not with the newspaper is one that they had been struggling with for several years, and their current financial situation made them take the step to close.

The new post says Mike Wilcox, the owner of Wilcox Newspapers, purchased the Commercial News to prevent its demise. Wilcox owns newspapers in Allegan County, Clair and other communities around Michigan, along with one in Alabama.

Wilcox says in the post, that he believes the key to success is converting the twice a week newspaper into a once a week publication that will be out on Fridays.

The Commercial News offices will stay in its current location, and the phone number will remain the same.

The post says that former subscribers to The Commercial-News, with a subscription valid after December 11, will automatically have their subscriptions reinstated. As compensation for fewer publishing days, their subscriptions will be extended for one year, free of charge.
