(COLDWATER) – Sentence has been handed down to a Coldwater man for a crime that happened in August 2019.

Branch County Circuit Court officials say 38 year old Matthew Albert was given a sentence of 7 to 30 years in prison. He had plead no contest in October to second degree criminal sexual conduct. In addition, the Branch County Prosecutor’s Office included an habitual offender third offense sentencing enhancement. By agreeing to the plea, the Prosecutor’s Office dismissed three other criminal sexual conduct charges, which included two first degree criminal sexual conduct counts.

As part of his sentence, Albert will have to register as a sex offender. He was also ordered by the court to have no contact with the victim.
