(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis will begin their final brush pick up for 2022 on Monday, October 3.

DPS crews will begin the pickup on the North side of the city and will work their way South. Varying amounts of brush and weather conditions make it difficult to adhere to a strict schedule. That means it’s necessary to have your materials ready for pickup and crews will get them as quickly as possible.

Crews will only be making one pass through the City.

All materials must be neatly stacked on the terrace away from objects or obstructions; There will be a limit of one truck load of material per parcel that will be collected and hauled away; Limbs, branches or brush material larger than 4 inches in diameter or longer than 8 feet will not be collected; No grass clippings, roots, thorn bearing branches, tree trunks, stumps or construction materials will be collected.

If you miss this brush pickup, you can take your brush to the Compost Site on Fawn River Road. Hours for the Compost Site through the month of October are Monday and Thursday, 12 PM until 7:30 PM; Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and Sunday from 1 PM to 5 PM. Then in November, the hours will be Monday and Thursday from 12 PM until 6 PM; Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM and then Sunday from 1 PM until 5 PM.

The Compost Site will close for the season at 6 PM on Monday, November 21.

If you have any questions you can call the City of Sturgis Department of Public Services at 269-651-2879.
