(COLDWATER) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency is once again able to make appointments after receiving updated COVID-19 booster vaccines.

CHA officials say they stopped taking appointments for vaccines earlier in the week until they could get the new Omicron specific COVID-19 booster shots.

The United States Food and Drug Administration along with the Centers For Disease Control approved updated boosters from Pfizer for anyone 12 years of age and older, and for the Moderna vaccine for individuals 18 years of age and older. The new boosters target both the original COVID-19 strain along with the Omicron BA.5 sub-variant.

Health officials say the original December 2020 vaccines can no longer be used as boosters after the FDA authorized the new boosters.
