(UNDATED) – Power outages are still being reported after severe thunderstorms and high winds moved through Southern Michigan and Northern Indiana Monday.

The line of storms came from Northeast Illinois and hit Michiana between 4:30 and 5 PM. In addition to the heavy rains, the National Weather Service says winds of almost 60 miles an hour blew threw the area. Those winds knocked over some small trees and limbs, which in turn took down power lines, leaving thousands of people without power.

The line of storms stretched from as far north as Mount Pleasant to as far south as Warsaw.

As of this morning, Consumers Energy says there are still 1,769 outages around Southern Michigan, which is affecting over 121,000 customers. Consumers says they should have power restored by mid to late afternoon today.

NIPSCO is reporting they have 6,376 of their customers still without power. They say everyone should have their power back on by this afternoon as well.
